IAB NZ Mentorship Terms and Conditions 2025

1. Participation

Students must be current students of AUT or UoA only. Mentors must be current IAB New Zealand Members only.

2. Programme Duration

Mentorships run for a period of six (6) months, within the period of 1 November 2025 - 1 May 2026.

3. Matching & Introductions

IAB New Zealand will facilitate introductions by matching mentors and mentees based on registration information. Once introduced via email the responsibility for arranging and maintaining the mentorship relationship rests with the mentor and mentee.

4. Responsibility & Conduct

Mentors and mentees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and ethical manner throughout the mentorship. Any views or advice provided during the mentorship are personal to the mentor and do not represent the views of IAB New Zealand. Participation in the programme does not create any form of employment, partnership, or legal relationship between IAB New Zealand, the mentor, or the mentee. Maintain professional behaviour at all times (language, punctuality, boundaries). No personal, romantic, or financial relationships may develop within the programme. Avoid discussion or exchange of confidential commercial information from employers.

5. Costs

IAB New Zealand is not responsible for any costs incurred as part of the mentorship, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, meals, subscriptions, or materials.

6. Confidentiality

Both parties agree to respect the confidentiality of any sensitive information shared during the mentorship. IAB New Zealand will not be responsible for any breach of confidentiality between mentors and mentees. No confidential information belonging to IAB New Zealand, the mentor’s employer, or the student’s university should be shared. All discussions remain private and must not be recorded without express consent.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAB New Zealand accepts no liability for any loss, damage, injury, or claim arising out of participation in the mentorship programme. Mentors and mentees participate voluntarily and at their own risk. Participation is entirely voluntary. IAB NZ, its officers, and its members accept no responsibility for any direct, indirect, or consequential loss or injury.

8. Withdrawal

Either party may withdraw from the mentorship at any time. IAB New Zealand reserves the right to end a mentorship relationship at its discretion if conduct is deemed inappropriate or inconsistent with the programme’s intent. If an issue arises, contact IAB New Zealand in the first instance. Participants should not attempt to resolve disputes through public forums or social media.

9. Guarantee of Mentorship

Mentorship places are limited. Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee participation in the mentorship programme. IAB New Zealand will confirm successful mentee applications once mentors have been matched.

10. Future Communications

By registering, participants consent to IAB New Zealand contacting them regarding this programme and future initiatives.

11. Health & Safety
Participants must meet only in safe, public, or professional environments. Meetings in private residences are not permitted. IAB New Zealand does not vet meeting venues and accepts no responsibility for personal safety; participants attend meetings at their own risk.

12. Digital Etiquette

Communication should occur via agreed professional channels (email, LinkedIn, or WhatsApp). Do not share mentor or mentee contact details or messages publicly. Use respectful, professional language in all written communication.

13. General

IAB NZ reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the mentorship at any time. Entry into the mentorship agreement is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. All decisions made by IAB New Zealand are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
