7th May 2012 - Display advertising is hot property in the online advertising world once more, with the category recording its highest year on year growth since 2008. The results, which were announced today by IAB Australia in its Online Advertising Expenditure Report (OAER) compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), show total online advertising increased 19 percent year on year, with revenues for Q1 ending 31st March 2012 reaching $713 million, an increase of $111.9 million from Q1 2011.

IAB US: Internet Advertising Revenue Report 2011

The IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report for the full-year 2011 reveals that revenues soared to a landmark high of $31 billion. That milestone represents a 22 percent increase over 2010’s full-year number, which itself had been a record-breaker at $26 billion.

Despite the challenges facing the broader media market and in the face of a challenging economy, the Australian online advertising market has continued to record double digit growth reaching $2.66bn for the 2011 calendar year. The results, which were announced today by IAB Australia in its Online Advertising Expenditure Report (OAER) compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), reveal overall market growth of 17 per cent, almost $400 million, year on year. Total spend for the final quarter of 2011 was a record $716m.

The increase is the ninth consecutive year-on-year increase since the commencement of data collection in 2002.

US: H1 Online Ad Spend Report (Jan-July)

Internet advertising revenues (“revenues”) in the United States totaled $14.9 billion for the first six months of 2011, with Q1 2011 accounting for approximately $7.3 billion and Q2 2011 totaling approximately $7.7 billion. Internet advertising revenues for the first six months of 2011 increased 23% over 2010.
