Professionals turn to social networking

Social networking has found a place in the business world, with sites such as Sermo.com, a social networking site for licensed physicians, giving professionals a forum for sharing information.

Many are free to members, with revenue coming from advertisers, or through charging outsiders access to data and discussions. Sermo, for example charges US$100,000 to US$150,000 a year to non-medical businesses.
