Yellow Pages Group has announced four key appointments as part of a recent realignment of its 33-strong marketing team. The four key appointments are:

Susan Needham – Head of Insight and Analytics

Susan’s role is integral to the success of Yellow Pages Group. Her team provides vital customer, market and industry insights to the wider marketing team to enable them to develop, manage and monitor effective product solutions and community relationship programmes.

She has a fifteen year career in research, primarily in the telecommunications and financial services industries, and has worked for major companies including Vodafone and the Bank of New Zealand. While at BNZ Susan led a successful project which successfully improved the quality of the bank’s customer database. The project won a Marketing Association Gold Nexus Award in 2005.

Susan is a foundation member of the Marketing Association’s Data Advisory Network, and is currently serving on its committee.

Sheryl Nichols – Head of Marketing Strategy, Business Planning and Propositions

Sheryl is responsible for bringing a future perspective to Yellow Pages Group’s marketing programme. She has extensive strategic experience across several industries, working at companies including Mighty River Power, Telecom New Zealand, Carlson Marketing Group, Carter Holt Harvey and Suburban Newspapers.

She has held several senior roles at BT (British Telecom) including Head of Online Propositions and Head of Marketing for the Home of Possibilities Programme, which developed wireless broadband products and services. Sheryl helped develop BT’s New Ventures programme and was responsible for launching a range of ISP and internet portal propositions in the UK, including a start-up assistance service for small-medium businesses.

Simon Leitch – Head of Product

Simon is responsible for the development and management of Yellow Pages Group’s expanding product portfolio, which currently consists of: Yellow™ print and online, White pages® print and online, Local Directories™, 018 and 0172 directory assistance, New Zealand Tourism Online, Retirement guide, and Yellow frontdoor™, a new magazine-style publication for the DIY market. Simon is currently leading the development of a new local find-it function for mobile phones.

Simon has had wide experience in the retailing, FMCG and agriculture sectors, both in New Zealand and overseas. At Marks & Spencer in London he worked on several new business initiatives for the England and European markets; at Goodman Fielder he consolidated the product and brand portfolio; and at Fonterra Simon worked in the global strategy team and managed two start-up businesses.

Greta Yardley - Head of Communications and Channel

Greta is responsible for Yellow Pages Group’s internal and customer communications, as well as advertising and corporate communications. An important part of her role is ensuring close interaction between the company’s sales and marketing teams.

After graduating with marketing and chemical engineering degrees from the University of Canterbury, Greta began her career in social and marketing research with a focus on understanding the drivers of consumer behaviour. She worked at Telecom in consumer marketing roles before joining Yellow Pages Group in 2006.

Yellow Pages Group Marketing Director Blair Glubb says the company’s marketing team is well-positioned to capitalise on the changing nature of the find-it market in New Zealand.

“The appointments of Susan, Sheryl, Simon and Greta to head up the four marketing workstreams complete the realignment of our marketing function.

“The local find-it market is evolving quickly and, with the entry of new competitors and the emergence of new digital media channels, we need to move with the times too.

“These four outstanding individuals, supported by the rest of the marketing team, are tasked with ensuring Yellow Pages Group delivers on its goal of being New Zealand’s number one find-it resource, across print, online, voice and, shortly, mobile.”
