MSN on the election pulse

MSN is wading into the election debate, launching an Election 08 site and its very own election ‘worm’.

MSN’s online poll, called Passion Pulse, will delve deeper into the Kiwi voter psyche, tracking daily audience responses to political statements, media observations, and policy promises, capturing a vivid snapshot of voter opinions.

The online publisher – with 2.5 million viewers establishing it as one of this country’s largest – says the sheer size of its relatively younger audience will render a unique perspective on the country’s looming election and the issues most likely to polarise voters.

Audience views captured by the online poll are compared between genders and according to preferred Prime Minister, putting a fresh twist on overall survey responses.
MSN New Zealand business manager Liz Fraser said MSN’s huge audience provides a robust measure of political opinions, particularly among younger voters. "The next few weeks will be hugely important to both political parties. The Passion Pulse will bring a whole new dimension to the lead-up debate.”

MSN’s Election 08 site also features a panel of media experts, who will provide political analysis and blog commentary, news headlines, and an Election 08 photo gallery.

“We’re giving younger voters a voice and New Zealanders a finger on the election run-up pulse,” Fraser said.
