Microsoft buys travel search site Farecast

The Seattle-based travel company site tries to predict whether air fares will rise or fall, helping users decide when to buy plane tickets. It also has a section that searches for hotel room rates. Last year the two companies signed a deal that made some of Farecast’s technology available on Microsoft’s MSN travel site.

Under the deal, Farecast employees will become Microsoft employees but no details have been announced as to how the company will fit into Microsoft’s existing organisation.
