Magazine publishers buy up content sites

Hearst Corp, publisher of titles such as Esquire and Seventeen, has announced it is buying UGO Networks, a suite of men's lifestyle sites unconnected with its own magazines.

According to Advertising Age, Hearst is one of a number of media giants finding success on the web by acquiring web-only titles rather than by rebranding their own titles online.
