International acclaim for nzherald.co.nz Mobile site

nzherald.co.nz is one of only five mobile news sites to be awarded Official Honoree status, at the leading international awards for the Internet – the Annual International Webby Awards.

The Official Honoree distinction is awarded to the top 15% of work entered that exhibits remarkable achievement.  With nearly 10,000 entries received from over 60 countries, General Manager, Spencer Bailey says the award is a massive achievement for nzherald.co.nz.

“To be recognised as an Honoree by the leading digital awards in the world, alongside organisations such as The New York Times and CBS, is something we’re hugely proud of. To receive that recognition for our mobile site truly highlights the work we’ve done to provide innovative ways for people to access their news – whenever they want and wherever they are.”

Webby Award organisers say, “Mobile Webby Awards Honorees have shown the foresight and ingenuity to excel within a quickly changing and increasingly fragmented Mobile Web universe.”

Hailed as the ‘Oscars of the Internet’ by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honour excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Mobile and Online Film & Video.

The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organisation whose members include David Bowie, Matt Groening, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and Virgin Group Chairman Richard Branson.
