The Interactive Advertising Bureau of New Zealand (IAB NZ) announced today that Lee Williams, Head of ACP Digital, will take over as the interim Chairperson of IAB until the inaugural AGM which is planned for late September this year. IAB NZ is the industry association representing interactive and online businesses in New Zealand. Williams has been serving on the Board of IAB NZ and will take on the role as interim Chairperson from today.

Outgoing Chairperson, Josh Borthwick, says he’s had to step down from the role due to the increased time commitment for his role as GM of sellmefree.co.nz.

Borthwick says stepping down from the position he’s held since the creation of IAB NZ is bitter sweet. “The increased pressure for time with both roles means that both the IAB NZ and sellmefree are heading in the right direction. It’s a little sad to step away from the board which I helped to launch early last year, but Lee has been there from the start too and I know he’ll do a fantastic job.”

“I’m really proud of where IAB NZ has got to in such a short amount of time and I can leave the role knowing that we’ve established a great basis for building a strong industry association and confident that Lee can continue to drive the organisation forwards”, he says.

Williams says he’s excited to take over the Chairperson role. “The industry’s booming, and Josh and the other board members of IAB NZ have done a great job of establishing a solid industry organisation with a clear purpose. We’ve made good progress on a number of initiatives and I look forward to continuing that progress”.

Williams says that two main priorities over the next couple of months will be delivering the IAB/PWC research to measure the size of the interactive advertising market in New Zealand, and preparing for an inaugural AGM later in the year.

IAB New Zealand CEO, Mark Evans, says he and the IAB Board members look forward to working with Williams as the new Chairperson.

“Lee’s been an integral member of the IAB board since its inception, so he’s totally up-to-speed with what the goals and objectives are for the future, he’s got a really strong strategic handle on the industry and where it’s going, and he has the unanimous support of the other Board members”, says Evans.

“We’re really sad to see Josh go, and we’re extremely grateful for the efforts he’s put in. But it’s not all bad news - Josh has assured us he’ll continue to be involved in other IAB activities such as working on educational initiatives so we look forward to working with him on those in the future.”, Evans says.
