Ad industry leaders urge agencies to embrace new media

t the American Association of Advertising Agencies’ 2008 Leadership Conference in Laguna, California, Tom Carroll, president and CEO of TBWA Worldwide and chairman of the 4A’s, said agencies needed to “recalibrate themselves” to meet the changing demands in the advertising landscape.

“All industries recalibrate themselves,” Carroll said. “How’d you like to be in the CD business?”

His comments were echoed by Lee Clow, chairman and head creative at TBWA, who told the audience to “stop whining”. The new advertising landscape offers agencies “a huge opportunity for us”, he said.
