Yahoo defends Google advert deal

Yahoo! Executive Vice President Hilary Schneider said the portal's search-ad deal with Google, set to take effect in October, is "fully within the guidelines of the law." The agreement is facing scrutiny from antitrust regulators. Together, Google and Yahoo! account for more than 80% of the U.S. market in online search advertising. Read more...

YouTube creators can find out which parts of clips are “hot”

HotSpots is a new tool from YouTube that allows video creators to chart which portions of a clip are "hot" and which sections are less popular. The Google unit also is offering a tool called Visible Measures, which looks at audience engagement, among other factors, within a clip. Read more...
