Smartphone, tablet sales to surge
Mobile penetration reached 82% worldwide in Q3 2011, with subscription numbers hitting 5.8bn. However, the actual number of users is smaller, at 3.9bn, as many people have more than one active account.
Online advertising in New Zealand experienced one of its biggest year-on-year increases since 2008
Total online advertising spend in Q3, 2011 was $88.74million (m) up 26.5% year-on-year and up 5.3% from Q2, 2011 ($84.15m).

IAB Australia: Online advertising grows 20% year-on-year to post record quarter of $688million
The Australian online advertising market has continued its strong growth, recording an increase of 20 percent year on year to reach $688 million for the third quarter 2011 ending 30th September 2011. The increase is the ninth consecutive year-on-year increase since the commencement of data collection in 2002.
