Membership of IAB NZ

IAB New Zealand represents the interactive advertising industry, including media publishers, advertisers, agencies, and companies that offer services to the industry - such as web-developers, research companies, traffic-measurement and ad-serving companies and ISP's. It is a registered not-for-profit, association operating under a formal constitution, and represented by a management board made up of representatives from Full Member companies and organisations.

Working with the IAB Board are a number of sub-committees. These are each chaired by a board member, and have representatives from both Full and Associate members.

Each sub-committee focuses on a particular area of work - education, research, marketing, ad agency advocacy, advertiser advocacy and membership promotion.

If you are interested in getting involved in these sub-committees, please contact the relevant sub-committee chairperson and indicate your interest. We welcome members who are keen to get involved and passionate - as we are - about developing the New Zealand interactive industry and helping it to grow and mature.

Members of the IAB are companies or organisations, and the people working for them. There are three types of membership:

Full Members

Full members must be companies or organisations that own and manage businesses that "sell commercial interactive media space, time or capacity". Some of the types of companies included under this definition are:

  • website publishers - mainstream media, bloggers, special interest publishers
  • interactive broadcasters - radio or television (IPTV), streaming media providers
  • mobile operators - publishing mobile content, providing SMS or mobile video or other advertising
  • providers of digital outdoor advertising - such as digital intteractive displays, kiosks etc
  • Game providers - where the games carry "in game advertising"

Associate Members

Associate Members are companies that are involved in the interactive advertising industry but do not sell advertising. Some examples include:

  • advertisers - companies that include interactive advertising as part of their marketing
  • advertising agencies - including creative houses, strategy planners, media planning and buying agencies, and DM specialists
  • research companies - such as audience measurement and other industry research specialists
  • industry service providers - such as ad-serving providers, web-hosting companies, ISP's etcetera
  • web-development companies and associated technology solution providers

Affiliate Members

We also have an "Affiliate Membership" arrangement with a number of industry organisations (such as ASA, CAANZ, Marketing Association) with whom we have a close working relationship. Affiliate membership provides those organisations (and their staff members) with reciprocal membership of IAB.

Affiliate membership does not extend to members of those organisations however. It is designed to promote co-operative sharing of information and resources with industry organisations sharing common goals with the IAB.
